Meringue Girls Feature

Meringue Girls

We handcraft the best meringues you would have ever eaten! Mallowy in the middle, with a melt in the mouth texture. Each of our meringue kisses are hand piped, each with their own unique organic shape and colour. We use the highest quality ingredients, from free range egg whites and Tate and Lyle Fair-trade cane sugar to 100% cocoa.

Our style is a perfect mixture of East London flair, sophistication with a massive dollop of Rainbows! We are big on flavour, and have a real ‘Willy Wonka’ creative flair, which means the flavour possibilities are endless!

We’re both trained chefs, and we started the Meringue Girls after working together in a male dominated kitchen in Hackney. We bonded over our love of sweet things, and the rest is history as they say. We realised that cupcakes and cakepops had had their day – and that now is the age of the meringue! After training as chefs, we just felt like our hearts belonged to baking. We both have our own memories of baking with family and loved ones when we were children, and that nostalgia has remained with us throughout our careers really.

Everyone can be our audience really. We have catered all sorts of events, from weddings and birthdays to London Fashion Week. Our audience is mainly people who have a love of food – you’ll often find us feeding the masses at numerous foodie events around London.

The strangest request we have ever had would have to be the time we were asked to make a giant portrait of Olympian Tom Daley, using only Hula Hoop crisps…that was pretty strange.

What doesn’t inspire us?! Everything, from fashion and pop culture, to street art and interior design. We are massive Instagram junkies as well, so we spend every waking second trailing through all of the amazing pictures people post everyday. Oh and don’t even get us started in Pinterest…

We would have to say our cook book is our best work – it was just such a surreal experience and to this day we still pinch ourselves over it. Who would have thought that 2 years into our business we would have two cook books in the pipe line, our very own bakery and a team of amazing Meringue Girls!

Work hard and don’t give up – as cliché as it sounds! It’s a difficult industry to get into, not everyone is cut out for it, but passion and skill will get you a very long way.

We’re living our own dream really. Since the release of the first cook book, it has been a bit of a whirlwind. We have gone on to own our very own baking space and have recently just finished shooting our second cook book. And not to mention the birth of our very first Meringue Girl baby.

We actually have some very exciting things planned for 2015 – it all has to be kept under wraps unfortunately , but keep your eyes peeled! 2015 is going to be BIG.

Its raining Meringue Girls! copy
