Issey Miyake – a review

Issey Miyake is one of my all time favourite designers. He creates designs made with the “fight or flight” motto in mind, which is ever present in his wing-shaped pieces. Miyake presents every woman with her own set of wings, and who knows, in the future we might be able to defeat gravity and use them. Miyake also juxtaposes the past with the future, dipping into inspiration from the nostalgic 1960’s with his vibrant, textured patterns which he marries with pixelated and modern shapes. His graphic design background is apparent in his work as he merges classic with revolutionary with his traditional check versus his graphic stripes. With Miyake we see hints of a stylish future and his collections will stand strong in the survival of the chicest.
